A series of blended films of silk fibroin (SF) powder and polyurethane(PU)were successfully prepared by sol mixture-hot pressure method. The effects of the SF powder content on the morphology, structure and properties of the blended films were studied by scanning electron microscopy, wideangle X-ray diffraction, and biodegradability testing. The results revealed that SF dispersed in the PU matrix homogeneously, and a denser structure of blended films was obtained. The biodegradation testing showed that the blended films exhibited hardly biodegradability under the condition of PBS during the testing period. The method of hot pressure could better increase the compatibility of SF powder and PU in the blended films, favored the crystallization of the PU, and lowered the rate of biodegradation. This work provided a new method to prepare biomaterials from SF powder and PU.
