Participants in the International Energy Agency (IEA) Task 21: Daylight in Buildings are now monitoring the performance of innovative daylighting systems which function by redirecting incoming skylight and sunlight to areas in buildings where it is required. These systems include daylighting devices such as louvres and blinds, prismatic and laser cut panels sundirecting glass; light shelves, anidolic systems, holgraphic optical elements (HOE), and angular selective skylights. It is evident from the results that the devices which are being monitored in high and low latitiudes and in various daylight climates enhance daylight in building interiors. However they have performance differences in their illuminance and luminance distributions which need to be considered in their application to buildings. This paper analyses the results from work being carried out in sky simulators, test rooms and actual buildings in Austria, Australia, Germany, Denmark, Switzerland, Norway and the UK,
