摘要

In this paper, an open-loop multilevelrnON/OFF model is proposed to capture the multifractalrnbehavior of the HTTP traffic on the Internet. Itrnis assumed that the life time of a TCP session andrnthe active time of a burst within a TCP session haverna heavy-tail type distribution. The aggregate trafficrnof this model is shown to be multifractal. We analyzernits second and higher order statistics by thernwavelet analysis and develop a simple method to estimaternthe model parameters from a real Internet trace.rnWe showt hat real and synthesized traffic producernthe same Logscale Diagram with accuracy, for properrnselection of the model parameter. Using the NS-2rnsimulator, we compare the queuing behavior of FIFOrnqueues fed by real and synthetic traffic demands.
