By thinning catkins, chestnut yield could be significantly increased and the quality of fruits could be improved. But thinning catkins manually is very difficult. The chemical-thinning of chestnut trees catkins is more convenient, more economical and easier than hand-thinning. This paper reported the effect of SXC on Chinese chestnut yield and quality. The result showed that there was significant correlatively between yield and catkins-thinning ratio. Yield of chemical-thinning catkins increased by 32.77%, rate of acarpous cupules reduced by 4.2%, weight of each nut increased by 17.6%, and the amount yield of fruits increased by 38.77% and the ripeness time moved up 7-15 days.
