摘要

This paper revisits and extends the The Epistemic Authority of Collaborative Research," and adds some -comments about its implications for research evaluation. Because scientific collaboration produces research of above average quality and fertility, comparing research units by degree of collaborative activity may provide a quantitative indicator for ranking units in terms of quality. A number of caveats must be kept in mind in interpreting the data, as well as in considering potential policies about collaboration.
