摘要

Airlines, corporate flight departments, FBOs and flying clubs all eventually must confront a very difficult question: "Does this pilot still have 'the right stuff to fly safely?"rnEven individual pilots ask themselves this question at times. Almost inevitably, because of a life of always being in control and having the confidence that no better pilot ever flew the skies, the individual pilot concludes, "Of course I can still fly ... well!" As pilots, we have our persona tightly integrated into our life as a pilot ... it is how we identify ourselves and who we are.rnWhen this is threatened, the risk is not only the loss of a career or passion, but of individualism, a lifetime of purposeful experience and one's own identity. Confronting a friend, co-worker or fellow employee whose piloting skills seem to be waning is a most difficult task. Yet it is necessary and good for a variety of reasons.
