摘要

In the 2006 timeframe, Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) formed a Digital Working Group (WG)rncomposed of utility members, vendors, Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), Institute of NuclearrnPower (INPO), and industry consultants. The purpose of the group was to address the licensingrnuncertainties associated with digital upgrades and new plant designs. The NEI WG worked to identifyrnand document the areas that were the high risk areas creating these licensing uncertainties From thesernareas and NEI interactions with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) commissioners, thesernareas became the start of what we know today as the Digital I&C Interim Staff Guidance (ISG). Thisrnpaper provides an inside perspective from a NEI utility representative for the development of ISG #4rnand those involved in its development. The paper will also discuss the follow on activities to integraternit into a consensus standard, Institute of Electronic and Electrical Engineers (IEEE) 7-4.3.2. Finally,rnthis paper will discuss how TVA is integrating it into their in-house digital design processes.
