摘要

The increase of recycled fibers in papermaking, and more quality demanding paper buyers, have made dirt count control more and more important, not just from the paper, but also, and more importantly, from the pulp itself. Recycled fibers and deinked pulp is probably the most demanding in dirt count control, to control all stages of the deinking process, but it is also very important in pulp making process to control impurities through pulp cleaning processes, washing, screening and bleaching. The most of the dirt count analyzers are based for scanning or taking a photo of a paper sample. For pulp measurement, the manual, visual method is still very much used among pulp makers. Some scanners can analyze laboratory hand sheet, but making a hand sheet is the slowest part of this process and thus also needs human input, which further means long term cxpensiveness and sensitivity for human error. There are already some analyzers for on-line pulp dirt count measurement, and this paper is introducing a newcomer, pulpexpertDCW (Dirt Count for Wet pulp).
