Problems posed to beam steering of very large aperture array antennas susceptible to significant distortion are reviewed. The various media and methods of phase distribution to array elements are presented and compared. Particular attention is given to space deployable microwave retrodirective arrays. A deployable large aperture array design is presented illustrating the design concepts presented.
