To investigate the effects of concrete additive agents and mineral admixtures on sulfuric acid and sulfate attacks, a series of mortar bar immersion test was carried out respectively in sulfuric acid and sulfates solutions for more than two years. Some concrete additive agents and mineral admixtures used in common such as expanding agent, high-range water-reducer, condensed silica fume, pulverized fly ash, and so on, were employed with different replacement level in different series of mortar bar spec-imens prepared for the test. A modified test method based on Chinese standard GB2420-81 and GB749-65, in which the deterioration resistant coefficient defined by a ratio of flexure strength was as the crite rion of concrete deterioration resistant, was used in this work. The results showed that all the above mentioned concrete additive agent and mineral admixtures had remarkable effects on sulfuric acid and sulfates attacks expect high-range water-reducer which had effects just in early stage. The deterioraton resistant coefficient K' could evaluate objectively the sulfates resistance of cement and concrete and their admixtures when the datum strength was the flexural strength F_w' of mortars made from OPC cured in water for 28d.
