Many factories are using flotation technology for the clarification of syrup, filtrate juice and low grade sugar melt. About 50-60 installations are in use, but stabilized condition of flotation as well as optimum decolourisation levet in not always achieved due to various reasons. This flrst part of the paper deals with the technolgy as well as critical points required for its proper working and to achieve the desired results with optimum doses of clarificants.
