Quality of service and rapid, efficient restoration andrnreconfiguration of payload services are key concerns tornsatellite operators. Configuration changes may bernrequired by equipment failures or customer servicernchange requests. TRECS (Transponder ReconfigurationrnSystem) was developed to support operations personnelrnin these tasks. The original design, presented at the 5thrnInternational RCSGSO Symposium, has been upgradedrnsignificantly based on customer feedback and fieldrnexperience. TRECS now offers all of the vitalrncapabilities of the original implementation, whilernintroducing new benefits.rnThis paper presents a case study of how software designrnmodifications and new features added to the TRECSrnproduct have been made to improve user productivityrnand to reduce costs.
