Reliability and Validity of the Chinese Version of Work Locus of Control Scale

Locus of control is a personality variable, which defined as a generalized expectancy that rewards reinforcements or outcomes in life are controlled either by one's actions or by other force. In organizational settings, outcomes include promotions,favorable circumstances, and salary increases and general career advancement . In Occupational stress research fields, the internal locus of control is thought to mediate the stressor-strain relationships, persons with an internal locus of control have shown a consistent tendency to report better health than those with an external locus of control. Fewer locus of control scales have been translated into Chinese,but these were hardly practically used,theirs reliability and validity materials wer-en't available. Paul E. Spector developed the Work Locus of Control Scale (WLCS); this is a scale concerned with the work domain. It was reported that this is a viable scale, with adequate internal consistency and solid validation evidence. The purpose of the present study is to assess the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of the WLCS.
