This paper shows how thoughtful design strategy with special attention to frugality in energyrnconsumption can create low energy usage in a residential setting in even such a challenging climaternas the Keweenaw Peninsula, the finger of land that juts north into Lake Superior. This house wasrnawarded one of Michigan’s 1998 Five Start Home Grants for energy efficient design and is featuredrnin the March/April issue of the American Solar Energy Society’s SOLAR TODAY magazine..
