This research aims to suggest multi-agent based APS (Advanced Planning and Scheduling) system. This APS system enables us to establish optimum scheduling under supply chain management by way of obtaining real time information on the production environment and environmental changes of suppliers and outsourcing companies. The multi-agent system enables suppliers and outsourcing companies to exchange information on a real time basis. Also, to deal with the problem of alternative machines and alternative operation sequence of outsourcing companies, the genetic algorithm integrates the process planning and scheduling. For the advancement of genetic algorithm enabling us to set integrated scheduling, our studies have tried to design new representation of chromosome, genetic operator and performance measure. We have applied the multi-agent based APS system to a medium-sized molding company to demonstrate the strong points of this system.
