摘要

According to complexity science, and after comparison on the concept of holism, the cognitive methods of TCVM and WM, it is thought that concept of holism is not only interaction and interrelation among parts of system and between the system and its environment, but also the characteristics of non-linear, e.g. small causes can have large results, and vice versa; and the whole is more than the sum of parts etc. TCVM and WM all emphasize the interaction and interrelation among systems, organs, tissues and cells etc of animal economy and between animal economy and its environment, but because of their cognitive methods, only TCVM is a holistic medicine and the cognition of WM is only localized on parts and details. Zheng (TCVM syndrome) differentiation and treatment guarantees the holistic characteristic of TCVM, and the simplified cognitive method of WM cannot understand and hold holistic rules. Them both have severally characteristics, e.g. the former is more advanced cognition and development, but the latter is the foundation. It is very important for the development of TCVM and the farther perfecting of WM to understand this today.
