The aim of the research project is to gain an understanding of how manufacturing is planned and scheduled within different business sectors.By taking a process modeling approach it is possible to determine architectures of characteristics that promote business success within specific operating environments.Once identified,these architectures can be used to develop reference models to facilitate self-evaluation of supporting systems with a view to encoruage positive change within manufacturing organisations.
