Main Tasks for Municipal and Regional Managers in the East-Bohemian Regions

摘要

Effectiveness and efficiency of managerial activities are contingent - among others - on their proper focusing on the main decisive tasks to be solved in the particular situation and time. Without conscious attention and creative criticism and evaluation what is "strategically" going on in their "territory" and how to respond to newly emerging opportunities or risks, managers tend often to a routine fulfilling of their routine tasks which may not always be the most critical ones. In this contribution, we have described the results on investigation of qualified experts and public opinion on the priority of the tasks for the municipality and regional managerial practice which need generally especial systematic attention and resolutions. We have compared the results with our other findings gained in a research of contents of the real managerial practice of the municipal and regional managers in the East-Bohemian regions in the Czech Republic [1,2]. The strategic planning, trusteeship of the municipality/regional assets, financial management, budgeting, as well as the decision making in establishing of adequate conditions for entrepreneurship/business activities, creating new job positions, and other significant tasks, which are comprehended in a term of sustainable development solving, need more attention than the municipal and regional managers usually pay to them.
