摘要

In the competitive world of advanced textiles, it's becoming increasingly more difficult to develop new, economical textile solutions. One approach to overcome this barrier is to provide consumers with innovative multifunction textiles, which allows for custom, tailored products as well as products that can be targeted at multiple markets simultaneously. At the forefront of this pursuit are nanofiber materials. Although, previously focused in the filtration market, the advent of new nanofiber production technologies has allowed nanofiber materials to be produced in sufficient quantities and forms, which allow them to be employed for many unique purposes. This paper will briefly discuss the electrospinning process as it pertains to the production of nanofibers and how it can be employed to create multifunctional textiles by highlighting several key examples.
