This paper puts forward a novel method for automatically generatingrna pencil drawing from a real 2D color image in non-photo-realistic rendering.rnFirst, the edge of the color image is detected by Sobel operator. Next, the colorrnimage is sharpened by Unsharp Mask (USM), and then color scaling is used tornget an image with radial and edge details. Furthermore, the original image isrndivided into many meaningful regions using an efficient method of imagernsegmentation, then the texture direction is determined by Fourier transform andrnshape feature. To render better effects of illumination and local texture of pencilrndrawing, the line integral convolution (LIC) algorithm is applied and combinedrnwith color scaling and white noise image. Finally, the pencil drawing is createdrnand the generation results from the superposition of the edge, the USM image,rnand the texture. Experimental results prove that our method could enhance the:rngenerated efficiency greatly by creating a more obvious edge, more naturalrntone, and more real texture than those offered by existed methods.
