The failure mechanism and behavior of slopes has been discussed in the paper considering the influence of natural earthquake, the principle and method is discussed in searching the potential failure mechanism of slope with the minimum factor of safety by adopting an optimization process, then the influence of natural earthquake for the slope stability has been evaluated with numerical samples.
