In industry, in government, in education, in non-profits and the military, innovation is the mandate. The givens - strategy, business savvy, technical competencies, sufficient resources, and quality systems - are not enough. Business leaders, stock market observers, investors, researchers and those in the rank and file know that that companies that are able to take advantage of market instability by providing radically new types of value to customers reap the rewards from their customers and the stock market. Yet the road to becoming an innovative organization is strewn with the wreckage of best intentions ― in part because while most of us want innovation, we're not really sure how to achieve it. The good news is that some leading organizations understand what it takes to unlock the door to innovation. Their leaders - at all levels of the organization - have learned what must be done to ignite the creativity of their people and unleash breakthrough innovations in products, processes, services and solutions.
