Many practitioners of quality management are currently serving on or leading process design and reengineering teams. While the goal of such efforts is a radical restructuring of the way work is done, the experience is that many of these projects fail to meet their objectives. (Hall, Rosenthal, and Wade 1993) Reengineering expert Michael Hammer (1995) attributes at least some of this failure to a lack of creative thinking.
