摘要

In 2000-2001, the Charter Township of Ypsilanti successfully constructed the fuse-plug emergency spillway in the right embankment beneath the existing roadway. The emergency spillway was constructed in accordance with the FERC mandate to increase the discharge capacity of the existing facility in order to accommodate PMF and extreme flood conditions. The total cost for the auxiliary spillway project was approximately $900,000. This application is unique in that the fuse-plug spillway was installed beneath a county road, which deviates from the FERC requirements regarding fuse-plug spillways. The design and implementation of this auxiliary spillway project was the result of numerous meetings and extensive negotiations with FERC conducted on behalf of the Charter Township of Ypsilanti. This project is a prime example of FERC's willingness to work with the licensee in order to meet FERC requirements and implement a cost-effective solution dictated by site constraints. Construction of the auxiliary spillway was completed in June 2001. Photos 6 and 7 show the completed fuse-plug spillway.
