The software described has proved capable of predicting the differences in candidate materials over relatively long exposure periods, and also beneficial in analysis of short term cyclic conditions. Low temperature performance is often overlooked, but this is where many problems originate. Inferring performance from laboratory data is virtually impossible for such conditions, but careful application of the software has produced illuminating analysis, which has corresponded well with actual application results. Rapid analysis of potential seal materials, seal geometry or variations in other factors such as interference are possible at the design stage, dramatically reducing the amount of testing required.
