摘要

With our recent advances in polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) based conformable microelectrode array (MEA) technologies, numerous exciting prosthetic applications involving neural/muscular surface recording and/or stimulation techniques become more accessible. As a pilot investigation, in this paper, we explore the general concept of recording-triggered surface stimulation, which may find instances in many prostheses that involve a synchronization or synergetic control strategy, using a PCB-integrated PDMS-based dual-MEA. A frog dual-muscle setup was used as a model system for the concept. Contraction synchronization between the two muscles was successfully demonstrated. Our future plan involves adapting current work to the development of a prosthesis for unilateral vocal cord paralysis (UVCP).
