The effect of the exhaust-to-wind velocity ratio, R, on the turbulent wake structure of a short stack of AR = 9 was investigated with two-component thermal anemometry. As R increases from 0 to 3, the downwash in the stack wake reduces, with no downwash flow for R = 3. It was observed that the jet produced another wake in addition to the stack wake and the height of this wake and the jet rise increase with R. The streamwise and wall-normal turbulence intensities are characterized by two regions (depending on R) of high concentration that coincide with regions of low streamwise mean velocity in the stack and jet wakes.
