摘要

Cathodic protection (CP) in combination with organic coatings is a well-known corrosion protective system forrnsteel structures submerged in seawater. The coatings are exposed to an environment that may cause loss ofrnadhesion, i.e. cathodic disbonding. The breakdown of coatings in CP/coating systems has been investigated.rnSix different coating systems have been exposed in accelerated tests for cathodic disbonding according to ASTMrnG81 and BS3900 Part F102. Painted panels were also exposed to natural sea water at ambient temperature whilerncathodically protected with AI anodes. Data from 4 years exposure are presented. Cathodic current demand,rnrandom blistering and the extent of disbonding from a coating defect were measured.rnThe investigation indicates that the new generation of modified epoxies performs better than the traditional coalrntar epoxy. The ASTM G8 test used as pre-qualification test at present is not able to give a correct ranking of therncoatings tested while the "modified" BS3900 Part F10 test seem to give a correct ranking.
