Beam-sea conditions are defined as sea states arriving at an angle of approximately 90rndegrees to the vessel's heading. They are a critical condition for FPSO design due to bothrnextreme roll motion and structural fatigue damage. Metocean data from Campos Basin,rnBrasil, is used to evaluate extreme beam-sea conditions using conventional block methodrnand peak-over-threshold approach. Results are presented for wind heading vesselrnconditions and both methods are compared.
