A case study for development of a deep-water field West of Africa has been carried out. The casernstudy involved development of riser solutions for production, water injection and gas injection.rnSpecific challenges for some typical West African deep-water fields with shallow reservoir arernthe high viscosity, the low temperature and the low outlet pressure of the oil.rnThe study covered different riser solutions including steel catenary risers and hybrid riserrnconcepts. Riser insulation and heating was identified as weak points in today?s industryrntechnology. A number of governing parameters for obtaining feasible riser solutions based onrnexisting technology was identified.rnCost comparisons between solutions based on catenary risers and solutions applying hybrid risersrnwere performed.rnThe paper concludes on the areas where advances in the riser technology can lead to significantrncost benefits for typical deep-water developments West of Africa.
