摘要

A hybrid-electric drive fuel cell bus with compressed hydrogen fuel and battery packrnelectrical storage has been assembled by ISE Research. It is presently in use in a “Developmentrnand Demonstration Phase”, including revenue service, at SunLine Transit in Palm Desert, CA. Itrnhas been exhibited at the American Public Transit Association (Las Vegas, where it served tornshuttle attendees to hotels) and at the FC2002 Conference (Palm Springs).rnDiscussion of the development team and program is followed with the advantages of the hybridrnelectric drive train, allowing increased range and better fuel utilization at lower cost. Therndistinct technologies of components incorporated in the bus are described. Finally, thernoperational characteristics and the findings during the first three months of the demonstrationrnphase are discussed.
