Kao's (1976) paper was one of the first to outline the field of educational ergonomics. This was written when little was known about the detrimental effects of furniture on children and before the introduction of computers. This paper reviews the models that have been forward to sketch out this area of research and assesses the applicability of Kao's model in light of current educational experiences.
