摘要

Statins, in addition to their beneficial cholesterol lowering effect, have recently been shown to exert pleiotropic effects in the nervous system, immune system, cardiovascular system and skeletal system, among others. In bone, preclinical in vivo and in vitro studies have demonstrated that statins reduce osteoclast activity and stimulate osteoblast differentiation in vitro and bone formation in vivo.
