Problems in fixation of osteoporotic bone are well known and new techniques and materials are constantly developed to improve fracture fixation.1 Conventional polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) bone cement has been shown to improve fixation strength although several problems, like difficult handling and removal and thermonecrosis, are linked with this nonresorbable material. Therefore, novel resorbable materials like tricalsium phosphate (TCP) or biodegradable polymers are developed to solve these problems.2 The aim of this study was to quantify the improvement of bone screw fixation strength by using novel biodegradable PCL bone cement; hypothesis was that the bone cement would significantly increase the initial pull out strength of bone screws.
