Several batches of Zirconia (ZrO_2) three-point bending specimens with the dimensions 1.2 mm x 0.2 mm x 0.2 mm produced by micro slip casting or micro powder injection moulding were investigated with respect to their behaviour under quasi static loading and the relating criterions of failure. According to the Weibull size effect the bending strengths of the micro specimens are higher than the bending strengths of comparable macro specimens. The examined micro specimens have bending strengths up to 2600 MPa, the strength being heavily influenced by the surface quality, the edge geometry as well as the sintering conditions and the relating grain sizes and porosity.
