New Methodologies for Preparation of Highly-Regulated Structure Films of Conducting Polymers

We succeeded in preparing three-dimensionally dense films of polyaniline, polythiophene and polypyrrole by the electrooxidative polymerization of the corresponding aromatic monomers under ultrasonic irradiation with a power higher than the cavitation threshould. On the other hand, centrifugal effects on the electrochemical polymerization of aniline, thiophene and pyrrole were examined under a centrifugal acceleration force of 1 to 300 g. The polymerization rate, chemical and physical properties and morphological structure of the films were greatly affected by the cetrifugal field. In addition, it was found that the use of the ionic liquid as an electrolyte could not only regulate the morphological structure but also increase the electrochemical capacity density and electroconductivity of polypyrrole and polythiophene films.
