This paper deduce a hypothesis about unique characteristics of information management system in large Japanese industrial corporations and try to generalize several lessons from Japanese experiences which could be learned and transferred by foreign counterparts as one of suggestions for information based organizations in near future. At first, author compares characteristics of industrial corporations between Japan and U.S.A., which make bases for information culture and information management system of respective countries. Secondly, features of specialized information centers within Japanese industry are described. Thirdly the impacts of recent innovation of information technology, networking and trends of globalization upon Japanese information management systems are discussed. Finally, several general aspects of information oriented organization are pointed out.
