For assessing the water resources variability under long-term changes of climate and land cover, distributed, physically based hydrological model are necessary since they can represent the spatial distribution of associated river basin properties and have the capability to help explore the impact of local land cover changes on the whole basin hydrological cycle. Before quantitative assessment of water resources, it is important to understand and assess the possible uncertainties in the hydrological simulations. The present study applies a distributed model to the Yellow River Basin in China and focuses on exploring the uncertainty in runoff simulations arising from the meteorological inputs, land use changes and initial groundwater conditions.
