摘要

The study on plant root-zone water storage (RWS) is an important part in the study on the soil-plant-atmosphere continuum. The accurate estimation of the plant RWS will provide scientific basis for estimating irrigated water, ecological water requisite and for the sustainable development in arid inland river basins in China. In the lower reaches of China arid inland river basins, because of water recharge reducing, the plant RWS reduces and plant withers, then a series of ecological and environmental problems come out. So, it is imperative to study how to estimate plant RWS. Based on two-layers soil moisture balance model, RWS of a familiar natural under-shrub Sophora alopecuroides (S. alopecurorides) in Ejina basin, is determined using soil moisture content of the surface layers 0 - 10 cm obtained by remote-sensing method, therefore, the feasibility study on determining the temporal change of natural pant RWS by using remote-sensing data in western China is taken.
