A mechanistic model has been developed to estimated annular wall layer thickness in circulating fluidized bed risers. Favorable correlations were obtained for riser diameters from 0.075 m to 0.144 m, particle diameters from 50 #mu#m to 213 #mu#m, and particle densities from 1600 kg/m~3 to 2650 kg/m~3, including a separate correlation for risers of a square cross-section.
