Local solids flux profiles were measured in a 76 mm ID high-density CFB riser using two types of sampling tubes - an "inverted-U" suction tube for measurign solids upflow flux and an inclined tube to collect by gravity the downflowing solids. The net solids flux obtained by difference shows the profiles to be roughly parabolic and indicates the net flow to be, on average, upwards both in the central region and in the annluar layer adjacent to the wall. The solids flux increased with solids circulation rate and was only slightly affected by the superficial gas velocity.
