A catalyst characterized as Geldatr A, having fines content (F_(44)) 25-45 percent was fluidized in lab and pilot scale reactors at gas velocities ranging from 0 to 60 cm/s. Fluid bed density (P_(bed)) Was found to be dependent principally on gas velocity, static bulk density (P_(abd)) and percent fines over a wide range of operating velocities (U_g). P_(bed) increased with decreasing percent fines, the effect being more pronounced in larger units.
