Photoinduced electron-transfer processes of 9-cis-retinyl-C_(60) (9cr-C_(60)) in various solvents have been investigated and the effects coming from 9-cis configuration have been revealed by comparing with all-trans-retinyl-C_(60) (atr-C_(60)). Radius of retinyl-moiety of 9cr-C_(60) obtained by MO calculations was smaller than that of atr-C_(60). Quantum yields of the charge-separation evaluated from the fluorescence lifetime measurements were 0.52 and 0.62 in benzonitrile (BN) and DMF, respectively. The absorption band of the 9-cis-retinyl radical cation was observed in polar solvents by the nanosecond laser flash photolysis employing the 532nm laser light and the lifetimes of the radical ion pair caused by the intramolecular charge separation was 10μs in BN.
