Novel π-extended tetrathiafulvalene (exTTF)-based donor acceptor ensembles -dyads and triads - have been synthesized following a multistep synthetic procedure. The addition reaction of the corresponding exTTF derivatives to C_(60) affords electroactive dyads and triads, which behave as amphoteric redox systems. In the case of fulleretriazolines 4, fluorescence experiments and transient absorption spectroscopy reveal that excitation of the fullerene moiety leads to radical pair lifetimes that are 2 orders of magnitude higher than those previously reported for related fullerotriazolines. However, in the triads, subsequent charge-shifts transform the adjacent radical pair into the distant radical pair, for which lifetimes of up to 111μs in DMF were determined -values never accomplished so far in molecular triads.
