The Cement Deep Soil Mixing (CDSM) method was used for in-situ solidification of river sediments in Newark Bay, New Jersey. The objective was to evaluate the viability of CDSM for the in-situ solidification of river sediments. The results showed CDSM Slurry mixtures, as low as 7% in cement content, result in significant solidification and strength gain of in-situ underwater sediments under ambient river conditions. Therefore, as an alternative to dredging and removal, the contaminated solidified sediments could be left in-situ and properly capped. Also, Nominal resuspention of solids takes place due to some upward movement of mixing spoils but the extent is limited to 75 to 120 ft. from the treated zone.
