摘要

Production of drafted soil boring logs is very time consuming and costly because of the outdated process of hand written entry of descriptive data and measurements. As a process improvement, a software application was developed for use on a personal digital assistant. The man hour savings for logging and producing final logs for 20 boreholes using this software was approximately 200 hours. The advantages are real-time production of logs and cross-sections in the field, increased quality, elimination of transcription and review time, reduction in turnaround time, and in field, on the fly decision making.
