Deveopment of mineral resources, especially open-pit mining will inevitably damage the surroundings of a mine site to a certain extent. This paper describes the technology applied and preliminary results achieved in rapid ecological restoration at Pingguo Mine, where Karst deposits of bauxite are firstly exploited in China. This will undoubtedly set a useful example of sustainable development integrating harmonious progress in economy with resources development and environmental control.
