Automobile manufacturers are placing increasing store not only in technical differentiation between their vehicles but also in emotions and driving passion. Properties that can be experienced such as feel, smell and not least sound can greatly enhance the appeal of a model, along with the vehicle design. The look of a vehicle and its acoustic behaviour are immediately observed by the customer.rnThe acoustic quality is therefore becoming increasingly important when defining the vehicle character. The continuous acoustic optimisation of engines and auxiliary aggregates and the higher quality of the interior soundproofing have significantly expanded the scope for a more specific sound design. Different options are available to give the driver significant acoustic feedback during acceleration and high load conditions.rnTuneable sound transmitters such as the Symposer provide an ideal solution for acoustically attractive vehicles. This solution, developed in cooperation between Ford and MANN+HUMMEL, brings back an authentic sound to these vehicles. The Symposer is in series production in the Ford Focus ST. The special design is suitable for application on charged engines where the input signal comes from the high pressure area of the intake system.
