摘要

Sustainable development is a necessary part of hotel industry and precise efficiency measurement is required to have it,particularly in today’s competitive environment.As data envelopment analysis (DEA) is a relative mathematical method for measuring efficiency of decision making units (DMUs) based on multiple inputs and outputs and as efficiency of hotels can be evaluated against each other while large and small hotels are participating in the efficiency evaluation,this method of comparison,used by many researchers,is not fair.In this paper a fair method of efficiency evaluation and comparison is introduced which can categorize hotels with respect to their size,place,budget and many other differences and protects the poor hotels from being compared with large hotels,international hotels and branded hotels.The proposed categorical method is based on a new fuzzy DEA model which can be solved using alpha-cut concept for triangular fuzzy numbers to transform the fuzzy model to a linear model and solve the linear model using linear programming methods.The outcome of the research can help the hospitality researchers to be able to compare (evaluate the efficiency of) hotels from different levels.
