Hydraulic turbine refurbishment has gained importance to the hydraulic manufacturer asrnit becomes a growing market and an economical way for the customer to obtain modernrnperformance level at a low cost. Unfortunately, turbine refurbishment is not discussedrnas often as the high profile and impressive new dam projects. Each turbinernrefurbishment project is unique and comes with a large number of unexpectedrnchallenges. For this reason, to be able to bring this kind of project to completion whilernmaintaining high quality and low cost, refurbishment project requires experience andrningenuity of a highly interactive team. This paper will present an overview of thernrefurbishment of the hydraulic turbines at the High Falls power dam as performed by GErnHydro Montreal.
